Professional Experience
Uriel Charlap is a highly skilled attorney with a diverse American and foreign legal background. At Bienstock PLLC, he is involved in complex litigation, including cross-border commercial disputes and international recovery proceedings of Holocaust-expropriated art. Additionally, Uriel has worked on several qui tam whistleblower lawsuits, including providing evidence to the DOJ and FBI in matters alleging large-scale health insurance fraud under the False Claims Act. He has also litigated for both plaintiffs and defendants in various class actions and worked on mass tort proceedings related to medical device manufacturing. Prior to joining Bienstock PLLC, Uriel gained experience in the field of international arbitration while working with the International Law Institute and an international arbitration firm.
Apart from vigorous representation of clients, Uriel has a passion for exploring legal issues through his writing and has published several articles. One of his articles, The Meta-reasoning of Achmea and ZF Automotive, is set to be featured in the American Review of International Arbitration (vol. 34(3), forthcoming 2024). Additionally, Uriel has published several law review articles in prominent Israeli publications, among them, The Confession Rule Paradox, 34 Bar-Ilan U.L. Rev. (2023), Originalism is Not What You Think It is, 47 Tel Aviv U.L. Rev. (2024), and Justice Halevy’s Move to the Knesset in Light of the Separation of Powers in Israel, ICON-S-IL BLOG (2022).
Uriel served in the Israeli Defense Forces before earning an LL.B. degree from the Faculty of Law at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He then pursued an LL.M. in International Business & Economic Law at Georgetown University Law Center, where he received a certificate in International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution. Uriel is a member of the New York State Bar.
